Having a Named Contact

1 – Before You Get Started: General Considerations

Having a Named Contact

At several stages of the overall application process, it may be useful to your applicants to have a named contact to whom they can reach out with queries, concerns, or to ask for feedback.

This person should be knowledgeable about the opportunity but will ideally not be (one of) the main decision-maker(s), so that the nature of applicants’ queries do not affect their outcomes. When providing the named contact it is beneficial to indicate that they are not part of the decision panel.

Naming a contact will:

  • Give applicants a clear route to addressing queries they may have
  • Link new starters with relevant staff networks to help them settle
  • Provide feedback to all applicants (whether successful or not)
