SECTION 5: The Award Stage

Being successful in an application is usually very exciting, but despite your efforts to maintain clarity throughout the application process and providing a named contact for applicants to direct queries to, your successful applicants may still have questions they need to be answered before they make their decision about whether to accept the job/funding award offered.
You should make it clear when communicating the offer to them that you do not require an immediate decision and explain to them how they can go about having their questions answered – whether that is by asking you directly, or by asking the named contact.
This reflection period should be made explicitly clear, and it might be helpful to offer a list of frequently asked questions to your successful applicant, in case there are questions they should be asking which they have not thought of (e.g., ‘is there visa or relocation assistance?)
