Evaluating the performance of your successful job applicant
Ensuring their continued support
Making sure they are becoming established and included in your institution

In a similar vein requiring interim reports on funded awardee project progress provides the same opportunities for you to provide ongoing support. Both involve setting goals to review at later dates and enable you to provide tailored guidance if your successful applicant is struggling in any particular areas.
